The Entrepreneurs Forum at UC Irvine provides an intimate and informative setting for faculty and researchers who are interested in the entrepreneurial process. Each lunch features a faculty member from UC Irvine or within the UC System who shares his/her experiences and advice on the technology transfer process and starting companies. Faculty will have the opportunity to actively participate in a spirited Q&A session with each speaker.

Goran Matijasevic is director of research development at The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine, where he works to form new industry-university and academic collaborations, especially focusing on new interdisciplinary research initiatives. Prior to this, he was the research coordinator at UCI's Integrated Nanosystems Research Facility. He previously worked as a senior engineer at QPlus, a telecommunications startup company. From 1994 to 2001, he was at Ormet Technologies, where as director of research he was working on development of polymer and metal materials and structures for electrical interconnect of high density circuits, new metal alloys for use in conductive adhesives, materials for embedded passive components and heat sensors, and high thermal efficiency electronic substrates. ¨He managed SBIR and industry consortia projects which secured more than $2.9 million and which have led to further activities with an additional $3 million in funding to the company, including a license agreement with a Fortune 100 company. He has four U.S. patents, three book chapters, and more than 40 conference and journal publications, and has served on the NEMI Industry Roadmap committee. He is currently on the OCTANe (Orange County Technology Action Network) technology and biomedical operations committees and also is vice-chair of Orange County Innovation. He is a member of the board of the Southern California Biomedical Council and is on the advisory board of TriTech Small Business Development Center. He may be reached at goran at uci.edu.
