Title:                                        The Workforce of the
Future

 

Speaker:                                  Gary Toyama, vice president,
Southern California region, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. 

 

Time:                                       11 a.m. - noon

 

Date:                                       Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007

 

Abstract:                                  Toyama will discuss changing
workforce demographics and their effects on the needs of the technical
workforce of the future.

 

Bio:                                          Toyama oversees
infrastructure and efficiency efforts across the Southern California
region for Boeing, the state's largest manufacturer. His region includes
six major Boeing sites with 30,000 employees.  He has more than 20 years
of executive management experience in Southern California with Boeing
and also serves as the Boeing Seal Beach site executive.  

 

In 2005, Toyama received the Mentor-of-the-Year award from INROADS,
Inc., a non-profit organization that trains and develops talented
minority youth for professional careers in business and industry.  In
addition, he is a recipient of the National Asian American Corporate
Achievement Award.  He is the executive sponsor for the Asian American
Professionals Association, Amelia Earhart Society, Mesa Boeing Black
Employees Association, and the Seal Beach Boeing Hispanic Employees
Network.  Toyama earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical
engineering and a master's in business administration from the
University of California, Irvine.
