present:
Commercialization and Licensing Overview Workshop

Friday, June 22, 2007
11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Calit2 Bldg., Room 3008

This workshop will focus on how the market determines commercial value
in an invention and how that is incorporated into a license with
University of California, Irvine. It will also cover basic terms of
license agreements and provide time for a question and answer session.

Entrepreneurs Forum at UC Irvine

The Entrepreneurs Forum at UC Irvine provides an intimate and
informative setting for faculty and researchers who are interested in
the entrepreneurial process. Each lunch features a faculty member from
UC Irvine or within the UC System who will share their experiences and
advice on the technology transfer process and starting companies.
Faculty will have the opportunity to actively participate in a spirited
Q&A session with each speaker.

Speaker: Doug Crawford
Doug Crawford joined the OTA full time in August 2006 as a senior
licensing officer and held a split appointment with OTA and OTT as a
business development and intellectual property manager where he managed
an engineering and physical sciences portfolio of roughly 250 cases.
Prior to joining OTT and OTA, Doug was a licensing officer at UC
Berkeley's technology transfer office with a focus on MEMS-based
technologies out of UC Berkeley's BSAC group. Before that, Doug was
director of marketing for an energy consulting firm in Berkeley where he
specialized in identifying and placing energy efficient systems and
projects for the light industrial market for 1.5 years. Doug's
technical background comes from 10+ years of research in light-emitting
plasma physics at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
incorporating responsibilities in applied research, patent review,
project management, industrial relations and operations management.
Doug received his BA in physics from the University of California,
Berkeley and his Masters of Business Administration from St. Mary's
College. He is a member of AUTM and holds patents (in UC's name) for his
work at LBNL in electrodeless light sources.

Complimentary lunch for UCI faculty and senior researchers who RSVP by
6/20/07. Space is limited so please RSVP early.
