[UCI-Calit2] Announces New Interactive Dance/Media Concert in Building This Week

Event:      öötöö: A Telematic Active Space Performance www.embodied.net/activespace/ootoo.html <http://www.embodied.net/activespace/ootoo.html> 

Host:      UCI faculty and Calit2 research affiliates, Lisa Naugle and John Crawford, invite you to öötöö: A Telematic Active Space Performance. This is a collaborative, interactive dance/media concert using high-bandwidth internet technology to link the UC Irvine Dance Department and the UC Santa Cruz Digital Arts and New Media Program. 

Time:    Performances are 7 to 8 pm, Thursday - Saturday, June 1 to 3, 2006.

Location:    UCI in the Calit2 Building Second Floor New Media Arts Lab and at UCSC in the Theater Arts Mainstage.

Reservations:    Admission is free but seating at UCI is very limited. Reservations are strongly recommended by email to ootooperformance at hotmail.com <mailto:ootooperformance at hotmail.com>   For anyone who can't be there in person, live streaming video of the performance will be available at <outbind://32/www.embodied.net/activespace/ootoo.html> www.embodied.net/activespace/ootoo.html <http://www.embodied.net/activespace/ootoo.htmlstarting>  starting at 7 pm each evening of the performances.

Background:  Presented simultaneously in two locations, öötöö is a collaborative, interactive dance/media concert using high-bandwidth internet technology to connect the UC Irvine Dance Department and the UC Santa Cruz Theater Arts Department. Choreographer Lisa Naugle and media artist John Crawford showcase their new work linking dance with interactive video and sound. Their collaborators include choreographer Ted Warburton from UCSC and composer Martin Gotfrit from Simon Fraser University.
