Presentation: Advancements in computing and telecommunications
technologies have dramatically accelerated the globalization of business
operations. Collaboration Technologies represent a synthesis of
traditional and emerging technologies, from project management, action
tracking, and workflow management, to web conferencing, data management
and instant messaging, which combine to enable organizations to better
manage their distributed customers, partners and workforce. These
technologies have tremendous potential for accelerating product
development and improving management of virtual engineering teams.
Significant cost savings and innovation gains can also arise from
improved access to expertise and information. However, for most
companies, implementation of collaboration

technologies remains ad hoc or limited to early adopters.

Tracie Monk will explore the exciting opportunities offered by emerging
collaboration technologies, as well as the organizational, technical,
and security challenges that organizations face in implementing them
effectively. Monk's talk will also include a demonstration of a leading
web-based collaboration technology platform, SiteScape Forum.

Speaker's Biography:

Papyrus' President & CEO, Tracie Monk, has more than 20 years experience
in Internet research, education and software development and has managed
distributed development and consulting teams in both the U.S. and Asia.
She co-founded and served as CEO of a network monitoring software
company, Caimis, Inc. until it was acquired in late 2001. While at UCSD,
Ms. Monk was director of the CAIDA Internet research group at the San
Diego Supercomputer Center and director of Extension's computing and
networking department, spearheading new technical and distance education
initiatives. In the mid 1990s, she led the team supporting Federal
Networking Council agencies as they fostered development of nascent
Internet networking and application initiatives in academia and the
private sector. Her current venture, Papyrus Communications
(www.papyruscom.com), builds upon this experience, assisting companies
to improve their performance and business practices through the adoption
of web-based collaboration and communication technologies.
