Title:   Highly Efficient Luminescent Organic Clusters with Quantum
Dot-Like Properties

Abstract:  Organic clusters with uniform structure and size have been
synthesized and studied. The quantum confinements on organic arms
[chains shorter than exciton Bohr radii (aB)] have been confirmed by the
discrete energy levels from PLE , narrow PL lines, size effect from UV,
and spherical shape from TEM, as well as Raman peaks red-shifting and
broadening. The results indicated the materials have QD like properties.



 

 


Bio:  Dr. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Department of Materials
Science & Metallurgy, University of Cambridge in 1995. After graduation,
Dr. He worked as a Postdoc Fellow at Cavendish Laboratory for two years
and then at USM, USA for another two years before he joined the
Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) in February 1999
as a Research Scientist.  Currently, Dr. He is the Cluster Manager and a
Senior Scientist at Molecular and Performance Materials Cluster, IMRE.
His expertise is in the areas of functional polymers and organic &
inorganic hybrid materials.  His research interests are:  1) polymer
nano-composites and organic-inorganic hybrid nano-structured materials,
2) Scattering Methods in Polymer Research and 3) Molecular Modeling of
Polymeric Materials.  Dr. He is author of over 60 peer-reviewed journal
papers and two book chapters in the area of polymer science, and filed
three patents.
