Cal-(IT)2 Irvine division is sponsoring the 2004 UCI Institute for
Software Research (ISR) Forum:

"Industry Problems - ISR Solutions"

Tuesday, June 8, 2004

1:30 to 5:30 p.m.

UCI's McDonnell Douglas Auditorium

This year's forum focuses on joint industry/academia concerns in open
source development; bridges the gap between research and practice; uses
case scenarios; explores weblogs; and addresses areas such as software
architecture, software design, CSCW, interaction and collaboration.

The keynote address at 4:30 p.m. is titled "Chandler: An Open Source
Personal Information Manager" and features Mitch Kapor, Founder and
Chair of Open Source Applications Foundation and Founder of Lotus
Development Corporation, and the Designer of Lotus 1-2-3. Chandler is
an innovative Personal Information Manager now under development at the
Open Source Applications Foundation. The novel process of Chandler
development combines open source methods with rigorous attention to the
process itself of software applications design, a combination that until
now has not been undertaken in a large-scale project. Kapor will discuss
the goals, process, results to date and challenges of this important
experiment in software development methodology.

Reception, poster session and demonstrations follow from 5:30 to 8 pm at
the University Club.

Registration is FREE to UC faculty, staff and students. But seating is
limited, so you must register!
