Issue # 3: Epidaurus<br>

Call for Scholarly Papers<br>
Theatrou Polis is a peer reviewed interdisciplinary journal for theater and the arts, published annually, in electronic form, by the department of Theater Studies, School of Fine Arts, of the University of the Peloponnese. The forthcoming issue (number 3), of the journal is dedicated to Epidaurus.<br>
The issue aims at fleshing out the influence of the theater of Epidaurus in theater history, dramaturgy, production analysis, as well as on ideological discourse. Of particular interest are submissions dealing with aesthetic and ideological conflicts, stimulating complex discourses regarding the character and the uses of the site, the monument and the stage of Epidaurus.The subject encompasses a broad range of scholarly and artistic interests, inviting interdisciplinary approaches. Submissions may focus on the following thematic units:<br>
A. The Site<br>
The Monument; its Cultural Identity; its Usage<br>
<br>
B. The Productions<br>
History, Dramaturgy, Production Analysis and Theater Practice <br>
<br>
C. Reception<br>
Criticism; Audiences; Education; Ideological Discourses relating to: Tradition-Innovation; Transgression; Censorship; Multiculturalism<br>
<br>
D. Institutions<br>
Epidaurus and Cultural Politics; Epidaurus as a Theater Festival and its relation to other Festivals; Epidaurus and Local Communities.<br>
<br>
In addition to the peer reviewed scholarly articles, the special on Epidaurus will include the following: <br>
A. Brief texts by invited theater and visual artists dealing with the following question:<br>
“Is there a work/production/event/installation, excluding ancient Greek drama, which could take place at the ancient theater of Epidaurus? Imagine your own participation in this project.” <br>
B. A selection of archival material of scenic designs executed for past productions at the theater of Epidaurus. Guest scenic designers will submit annotated drawings and/or photographs for this section. <br>
Guidelines for scholarly submissions:<br>
• Language: Greek or English<br>
• Length of articles: 4.000-8.000 words (including footnotes)<br>
• Deadline for submissions: 30/4/2017<br>
• Include a short bio with your submission (up to 200 words).<br>
• Send the file as an attachment, using your last name, in capitals, as its title, followed by the number ‘1,’ to the following address: <a href="mailto:theatroupolisepidauros@uop.gr">theatroupolisepidauros@uop.gr</a><br>
