<font>The Phaedon John Kozyris and Litsa Kozyris Travel Award</font></b></font></div>

<font face="Times New Roman" size="4">This $50,000 endowed fund provides financial support to graduate or undergraduate students to pursue a formal program of study in Modern Greek (MG) language and/or research in Greece in any academic field requiring the
intensive use of MG. It may cover study abroad fees, travel expenses, and any additional educational expenses (including books). The fund is restricted to a student (from any department at Ohio State who has attained a level of competence in MG beyond the
first year of instruction by taking at least two courses in the MG language program at Ohio State, housed in the Department of Classics, or is a graduate student in the MG program. In the absence of a Modern Greek language program at Ohio State, the fund will
support a competitive research award for a student from Greece or Cyprus working in any academic field, or a student of any background working on a MG topic.</font></font></div>

<div style="margin: 14pt 0px 1.3em; padding: 0px; border-width: 0px;"><font face="Times New Roman" size="4"><b style="text-align: center; color: rgb(34, 34, 34);">P. John Kozyris</b><span style="text-align: center; color: rgb(34, 34, 34);"> (1932–2010), born
in Thessaloniki, Greece, was a Professor Emeritus of Law at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, and at the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki where he taught until his retirement in 2000. An internationally respected legal scholar and prolific
author, P. John devoted his life to law. He was active in political issues, being an outspoken critique of the Greek junta. He is known for his pioneering advocacy for the formation of the European Economic Community. P. John was one of the founders and supporters
of Modern Greek studies at The Ohio State University. In addition to his teaching, writings, and involvement in study abroad programs in Greece, he is remembered for the generosity of his spirit, wit, incisive humo[u]r, and love of travel.</span><font color="#222222" style="text-align: center;"><img src=" " alt="Litsa and Phaedon Kozyris" _src="https://classics.osu.edu/sites/classics.osu.edu/files/styles/full_width/public/Kozyris.jpg?itok=Z85GJL1q" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"></font></font></div>
<div style="margin: 14pt 0px 1.3em; padding: 0px; border-width: 0px;"><font color="#222222" face="Times New Roman" size="4"><b>Litsa Kozyris</b> (BS, Elementary Education 1985; MA, History, 1994) is an enthusiastic supporter of arts and culture, both in the
United States and Greece. She is especially drawn to Greek culture. Lisa still spends summers in Thessaloniki, Greece, but has several children and grandchildren in Columbus and spends most of the year here. Litsa is an Assistant Director at the Tulane University
and at the Loyola University's, New Orleans, summer Law programs in Greece, where she teaches courses in Modern Greek language and culture. She is devoted to Greek American cultural institutions, and she and her entire family also are loyal to the Modern Greek
Program at The Ohio State University. Litsa volunteers for the Greek Language School, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where she teaches Greek language. Like her late husband John, she is a avid supporter of study abroad in Greece, a commitment
that informs her Endowed Award to the University.</font></div>
