<div style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:13px"> in my capacity as a Greek citizen , i would like to thank you for the great </div>
<div style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:13px">contribution to the history of Eastern and Southeastern Europe highly estimated to my country and wordwide.<br>
</div>
<div style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:13px">I am archaeologist and i am writing to you on the following issue;</div>
<div style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:13px">
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The economic turmoil is having a devastating effect on the country's rich cultural heritage. The Ministry's of Culture budget has been cut by 50% over the past 3 years. Greece has 210 archaeological museums, 250 organized
archaeological sites and 19.000 designated monuments and sites.</span></p>

<div style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:13px">As a result, a large number of cultural employees have been dismissed. The State authorities can't implement any more projects concerning the effective protection, conservation, and presentation of monuments
and sites. Research and excavations are being abandoned. Museums are closed or shut down entire halls because of shortage of guards. Clandestine excavations, pillage and illicit trafficking of cultural property increased by 25% the past 3 years. </div>
<div style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:13px"><span lang="EN-US">A group of Greeks who hardly struggle for the protection of our cultural heritage have created the site <a href="http://www.greekcultureprotection.com/" target="_blank">www.greekcultureprotection.com</a>comprising
a voting appeal to UNESCO to take appropriate measures for the protection of cultural heritage of countries, as Greece, in economic crisis.</span></div>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:13px"><span lang="EN-US">Nobel of literature prizes(Ms.Nadine Gordiner,Mr.Dario Fo,Mr.Gunder Grass),Mr.Mario Vitti(famous Italian Hellenist).the film-maker Mr.Costas Gavras,,the author Mr.
Vassilis Vassilikos,Mr.Jack Lang(ex-French Minister of culture,President of the Arab World Institute)Mr.Antonio Lobo Antunes(Portuguese author),many distinguised Academicians and professors of Universities from many countries(Prof.Sergei Karpov,Prof
