[Toastmasters] RE: Call to Leadership - Serve as an officer in Zotspeak Toastmasters

 Members,

We will elect officers for the January - June term very soon. 

Officership opens a new dimension of learning in the Toastmasters
experience. You are all encouraged to run for office.  I've included
descriptions of each position below.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to run, or if
you have questions.

Zotspeak Officers

 
Our elected officers serve six-month terms (January-June and
July-December) and may be re-elected for one consecutive term in the
same office. It is recommended that members experience as many different
roles as possible. The elected officers comprise the Executive Committee
and usually meet once a month to discuss and carry out club business.
 
Newly elected officers are expected to attend District training
sessions, called L.A.C.E. (Leadership and Communication Education),
generally held in December and in June.
 
Here is a brief synopsis of their duties:
 
President: serves as club's chief executive officer, responsible for
general supervision and operation of the club. Represent the club on the
District Council. Attend Area council meetings and District conferences.
 
Vice President Education: plans the club meetings, schedules the
assignments. Presides in the absence of the President.  Attend Area
council meetings and District conferences.
 
Vice President Membership: conducts ongoing membership building programs
and efforts. Nurtures and encourages members who may need help.
 
Vice President Public Relations: promotes the club to the community,
creates newsletter and/or website
 
Secretary: maintains membership roster, keeps minutes of business
meetings, keeps club files.
 
Treasurer: maintains club's financial records, collects and submits dues
to World Headquarters, submits new member applications.
 
Sergeant-at-Arms: schedules meeting locations, maintains club equipment,
sets up before each meeting, ensures that adequate supplies are
available.
