First Ever Team Racing in UCISA Capri's (and Barbecue)
Sunday November 26, 11:30

Sailboat racers learn to avoid messing with other boats, because while
you a slowing each other down, a third boat can pass both of you. But what
if that third boat is on your team? Welcome to the exciting world of team
racing. For the first time, UCISA will be conducting team racing with our
Capri Fleet, to make this activity available to our members of all
experience levels. In this event, two teams of three boats race, each boat
trying not for the best finish for itself, but for the lowest total score
for the team. Having participated in several Shields team races, I can say
it is a great way to have lots of fun while learning new things about
sailing and racing.

We will meet at the docks at 11:30 where Steve Reed will give a lecture
on rules and tactics. We will start racing around 1:00, and Steve will
provide ongoing coaching. We will change teams and sailors throughout the
event, to make sure everyone has a chance to compete against racers of
similar experience.

We will also have a barbecue at the docks, for $3 a person. So come to
race, or just to eat and watch.

Sign up for racing and the barbecue at

<BLOCKED::http://www.sailingclub.net/cgi-bin/caprisignup/index.cgi> . A
Capri Rating is required to skipper, and anyone with Capri experience can
crew. Let me know if you have any questions.
