Sailing: Capri ratings and upcoming classes

UCI Sailors: 
 
Up coming Classes:  These are the last of the scheduled summer classes. The
next set of regular classes will start at the end of Sept. Remember all
classes are open to UC students, Faculty, staff and alumni and spouses.  You
may also sign up a non-affiliated guest to take the class with you. Tell
your friends about the classes
 
Classes:Dates:  Aug 8-Aug 19, 2005
             Days:   Monday, Wednesday Friday
 
Capri 1:      5:30-8pm
Capri 2       2-4:30pm
Keelboat 1  5:30-8pm
 
Please pre-register for these classes in person at the ARC or by phone at
824-3738

Capri Ratings day and Practice day
Rating day:  Saturday Aug 6,2005
 
Written tests:    12noon sharp
Practical tests:   1:30pm 
You must pass the written test before you take the practical (even if it is
that day) 
You can only miss 6 on the test, so please be prepared.
Be ready to capsize and complete the steps on the rating checklist. That is
available at http://www.campusrec.uci.edu/outdoor/capricheck_w05.pdf

More rating days will be scheduled in Aug and Sept.
 
Rating Practice Day
Sunday Aug 14,2005 
 
This is your chance to review what is on the written and practical test,
take the written test and get on- the-water practice. Great for anyone who
has not sailed for a while.  We will have volunteers and raters to actually
go out in the boats and help you practice.
Time:  12noon for written review and explanation
           1pm for on the water practice,
            
Written test available between 1-3pm at the base.
Capsize for those who want to get that out of the way.
 
This is also open to newly rated or those who are rusty and just want to
sail with someone for a bit to refresh your skills.
RSVP if you want to participate in this part.
 
You must  RSVP to jlibbets at uci.edu  to reserve a spot and so we can plan.
Please also let me know your affiliation and your experience.
