Dear colleagues and friends:

As most of you know, one month ago yesterday, my baby son, Mikey,
died in a tragic accident that I was responsible for. On that day,
our former lives as a happy family ended, and our new lives as
bereaved parents began.

My wife, Keiko, and I would like to thank the hundreds of Papyrus
News readers who have sent messages of condolence, thoughts, and
prayers. We apologize for not always being able to reply
individually to the many messages and cards we have received, but
they have meant a great deal to us. I understand from my attorney
that scores of people around the world have also sent character
references for me, and I thank you for those as well (these are still
being accepted; contact me if you would like further information on
this).

Keiko, and I are deeply grieving, and will be for a long time to
come. It is not our goal or expectation to "get over" or recover
from this; we will live with it our entire life. At the same time,
we will try to adapt to this experience and incorporate it as part of
our life and move forward on our new path as best we can. If Mikey
was an incredible little boy--and those who have met him or even seen
his pictures believe he is--Keiko and I are the closest living links
to him now, and we feel we can honor him best by trying to live the
most meaningful lives we can.

We will be making a lot of adjustments to our lives, both in the
short- and long-term, and I am not yet sure what will be the role or
function of Papyrus News in the coming time. Expect continued quiet
for now.

Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers,
