[MGSA-L] Monument dedicated to the Greek Jewish victims of WWII

I have been following the postings for quite a while now. Some are
better than others but one constant is Mr Alexiou's need to demonstrate
his belief, often baseless, that the Greek people/government are
anti-semitic/anti-democratic/anti-whatever.
His last posting is true to form. He first asserts that a monument to
Jewish soldiers should be at the University of Thessaloniki and then
claims (with no foundation) that such a monument would be destroyed.
Mr. Alexiou must spend many sleepless nights worrying that somewhere,
somehow, someone might say a positive thing about Greece.

I assume this is a rhetorical question.

I can just see the monument on the grounds of the University, which, of
course, has been built on top of the old Jewish cemetery.
A monument to Greek Jewish veterans will last there oh, perhaps a few
days,
while Greek students from every part of the political spectrum will take
turns demolishing it.

Too bad that the photograph from the MPA is of concentration camp
prisoners
and not of Greek Jewish soldiers for whom this monument will be about!

In addition, since these soldiers were Greek citizens and died while
defending Greece, why unveil (bury) this monument inside a cemetery
which no
one but Jews and a few government dignitaries visit during burials and
certain holidays? Why not unveil it at other more appropriate PUBLIC
locations such as the Aristotelian University, the old train station,
the
port or Freedom Square, all places with very distinct Greek Jewish
historical context...and places where ALL Greeks can be reminded of the
hundreds of Greek Jews who died in the mountains and valleys of Greece
and
Albania.
