New York, NY - December 22, 2003 - The Foundation for Hellenic Culture
is pleased to announce its first event of 2004, a recital of entechna
and traditional Greek songs. On Thursday, January 8, 2004, the
accomplished artist, Savina Yannatou, will sing songs from her
repertoire. Kostas Vomvolos will accompany her on piano. The program
will take place at the FHC (7W 57th St.) and is open to the public. For

Savina Yannatou began her career as a singer in 1979 and as a
composer-singer-vocalist in 1986. She studied at the National
Conservatory and at the Workshop of Vocal Art, both in Athens, Greece.
She attended postgraduate studies in performance and communication
skills at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, on a scholarship
awarded by the Mousigetis Foundation. 
Savina Yannatou is a performer with a large versatile vocabulary. Her
songs connect the modal music of the East with the music of Western
Europe. Her repertoire includes entechna ("artful") Greek songs,
Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque songs, vocal improvisation, in which
elements of different styles and traditions are combined, contemporary
opera, as well as music by contemporary Greek composers. She began her
career on the program Lillipoupolis, a daily program which was created
by Manos Hadjidakis on the Greek National Radio 3. With the group
"Primavera en Salonico" she has recorded - and performed - Sephardic
Folk Songs from Salonica, "Songs from the Mediterranean" and the "Virgin
Maries of the World."
 
Kostas Vomvolos studied accordion and music theory at the national
conservatory. 
A composer of more than 50 theatrical productions, he is the founder and
leading performer of the group "Primavera en Salonico". 
 
Savina Yannatou has performed at concerts all over the world, including
most cities of Europe, the United States, Australia, Israel, and Taiwan.

ανακοινώνει την πρώτη του εκδήλωση για το έτος 2004, ένα ρεσιτάλ
έντεχνου και παραδοσιακού ελληνικού τραγουδιού. Την Πέμπτη 8 Ιανουαρίου
2004, η εκλεκτή, γνωστή καλλιτέχνις Σαβίνα Γιαννάτου θα ερμηνεύσει
τραγούδια από το ρεπερτόριό της. Ο Κώστας Βόμβολος θα την συνοδεύσει στο
πιάνο. Το ρεσιτάλ θα γίνει στους χώρους του Ιδρύματος Ελληνικού

Η Σαβίνα Γιαννάτου ξεκίνησε την καριέρα της το 1979 και αργότερα, το
1986, άρχισε να γράφει τα δικά της τραγούδια. Σπούδασε στο Εθνικό Ωδείο
και στο Εργαστήρι Φωνητικής Τέχνης στην Αθήνα. Αποφοίτησε από το τμήμα
του Performance and Communication Skills του Guildhall School of Music
and Drama του Λονδίνου με υποτροφία του Ιδρύματος Μουσιγέτης. Η Σαβίνα
Γιαννάτου είναι μία μουσικός με μεγάλη γκάμα ερμηνείας. Στις μελωδίες
της συγκεράζονται οι επιρροές-επιδράσεις της ανατολής με τη μουσική του
δυτικού κόσμου. Το ρεπερτόριό της περιλαμβάνει μεσαιωνικά, αναγεννησιακά
και μπαρόκ τραγούδια. Σε ελεύθερο αυτοσχεδιασμό συνδυάζει στοιχεία από
διαφορετικά είδη μουσικής και παραδόσεις. Ερμηνεύει επίσης σύγχρονη
όπερα και μουσική συγχρόνων Ελλήνων συνθετών.
 
Η επαγγελματική της σταδιοδρομία ξεκίνησε το 1979 με την εκπομπή του
Τρίτου Προγράμματος της ΕΡΤ "Εδώ Λιλιπούπολη" που δημιούργησε ο Μάνος
Χατζιδάκις.
 
Τα τελευταία χρόνια συνεργάζεται με το γκρουπ "Primavera en Salonico" με
το οποίο έχει ηχογραφήσει τους δίσκους «Άνοιξη στη Σαλονίκη», «Τραγούδια
της Μεσογείου», «Παναγιές του κόσμου» και «Terra Nostra». 
 
O Κώστας Βόμβολος σπούδασε ακορντεόν και θεωρία στο Εθνικό Ωδείο. Έχει
συνθέσει μουσική για περισσότερες από πενήντα θεατρικές παραστάσεις και
είναι ο δημιουργός και κύριος εκτελεστής του συγκροτήματος "Primavera en
Salonico".
 
Η Σαβίνα Γιαννάτου με το ανωτέρω συγκρότημα έχουν δώσει πολυάριθμες
συναυλίες στην Ελλάδα και έχουν πάρει μέρος σε πολλά φεστιβάλ του
εξωτερικού, στην Ευρώπη, την Αμερική, την Αυστραλία και το Ισραήλ.
