[Cnidaria] Aurelia aurita mass murder!

The swollen pouches to which you refer looks like air. Perhaps the
sheer number of boats being underway churned up the water enough to
result in many air bubbles in the water. The bubbles then ended up in
the tissues of the jellies before coming out of solution naturally?
Also a water warming event might contribute to the problem by releasing
extra air, too.

Thanks for the pictures!

Subject: [Cnidaria] Aurelia aurita mass murder!

Dear Cnidariologists!
We have found today morning a mass of dead Aurelia with swollen
gastric pouches( see attached pic.). may it be due to a high traffic
level of big boats which we had last weekend in Kiel ( it was a sailing
event )? I have never seem this eaten bubbles inside Aurelia in last 4
years of my work in Kiel, even after sailing event.Do you have some
explanation for?
Jamileh
