Hi,
it very much looks like Edwardsiella lineata, a sea anemone of the Edwardsiidae which is a facultative parasite in Mnemiopsis.

In populations around the coast of Massachusetts, RI and CT, it is unusual if
they are missing. I think it's a cnidarian, an anemone, but I'm not sure.
Over the weekend (serendipitously) I observed free-swimming individuals,
maybe either finding hosts or abandoning the crowd of mnemiopsis in our
pseudo-kreisel tanks at the New England Aquarium.
Email Chris Dollar <cdollar at neaq.org> since he's more knowledgable (I'm a
part time jellies guy who teaches Chemistry for a living).
