Hi Frank/André,

The jellyfish in the photos are Pelagia noctiluca. I was at sea during this time and observed large numbers of them. They were mainly golden yellow/brown in colour, although larger specimens had a hint of pink on oral arms. Large and small specimens had warts all over the umbrella surface and they never had more than 8 tentacles.

All the best,

Tom.

Subject: [Cnidaria] Help with identification

Hi,

I recently got some photos sent to me of some Jellyfish from a bloom which occurred of the west coast of Ireland recently (End of October).
There were large numbers of this specimen in the water which turned the water very brown. Would anyone be able to give me an idea as to what species this may be.

Regards,

Frank
