Dear cnidariologists,
Thank you for the informative answers recently to my question about
Nomura in the medusa name Nemopilema nomurai.
This time another similar question regarding the actiniarian genus
name Alicia, described in 1861 by the British botanist,
ichthyologist and cnidariologist James Yate Johnson, 1820-1900,
likely from Madeira, where he lived. I have not seen the description,
so possibly he may there have explained which lady named Alice or
Alicia he honoured?
Best wishes and thank you in advance for possible help.
Hans G. H.
