Dr. Hansson,
According to Kishinouye (1922), Mr. Kan-ichi Nomura was the Director
General of the Fukui Prefectural Fisheries Experimental Station.
Prof. "Kenkichi" Kishinouye received his first specimen of Nemopilema
nomurai from the Station in early December in 1921. The sample was sent
to him in a 72 L volume wood tank.
The sample was different from known species, he visited the Station
during the winter vacation. And examined a specimen caught in a
yellowtail set-net with help from the Station and the Obama Fisheries
School.
The remain of Kishinouye (1922) was translated into English by Omori and
Kitamura (2004).
