Hello Qaseem and everybody else,

I don't know warm water medusae well and I don't (therefore) know
much about rhizostome medusae, but in general when posting questions
about identifications here, it would be extremely useful to know
WHERE the animals are. That said, I would assume that in some cases
we might be talking about unexpected "alien" or exotic species and
maybe we should not be geographically prejudiced. Still, one of the
first things that I want to know when trying to identify something is
where it came from.

To bare my ignorance of the subject, if I knew that the posted image
was taken in the eastern Mediterranean, I would then start checking
the literature to see what Rhopilema nomadica really looks like. But
as I have already admitted, that could be way off the mark and
someone else really should be answering this question...

Cheers,
Claudia Mills
